Hip Hip Hooray! It's the 100th Day!

Hopefully you've heard a little from your child already about the wonderful day we had in honor of the 100th day of school! Our hands were busy making 100 day crowns with 100 things we made or wrote on them: 10 stickers, 10 tallies, 10 stamps, 10 dot stampers, 10 words, 10 names, 10 letters, 10 numbers, 10 fingerprints, and 10 hearts. We also stringed 100 Cherrios on a necklace and wore our 100 day glasses that we made the day before. We sang and danced to a 100 day song, and proclaimed that we were, "100 days smarter"! The highlight of the day was a special letter from "Herman 100". Here's what the children found on our easel this morning: Dear Kindergartners, My name is Herman 100 and I am a dragon. I visited your school last night and I could tell that you have been waiting for the 100th day of school to come. Well, it’s finally here! Happy 100th day! I’ve heard that you celebrate the day with all kinds of fun activities. Since I happen to be very fond of the number 100, I decided to join in the festivities. As I strolled around your school I left 100 footprints for you to find and follow. If your class successfully counts all the footprints you will find me and a prize! Happy Counting! P.S. I left my first footprint near a room in the school that you visit once a week. It’s the room where you might find your gym teachers, MJ and Mr. Williams. This room is small, not large. Please remember to walk quietly through the hallways as you count my 100 footprints. Have fun! Love, Herman 100 Ask your child to tell you more about our adventure in search of Herman 100! Happy Day 100!
